Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has insisted he is ready for ‘different avenues’ should he not land an opportunity to represent Manchester United.
Dean Henderson is having a great season with the Blades in the Premier League and his performances have earned him links with an imminent return to his parent club to challenge David de Gea for the No.1 spot.
The Spaniard has come under strong criticisms in the last two seasons with his recent errors, which Henderson has backed him to respond in a positive manner.
The 23-year-old has also hinted he may not be willing too long to grab an opportunity to play for the Red Devils.
Speaking to TV3, Henderson said: “I think it’s clear for everyone to know. I want to play for Manchester United and England. It feels like I always hit a brick wall. Maybe I’ll get the opportunity [to play for Man United], maybe I won’t, then I’ll have to look down a different avenue.
“The fans have to remember what he’s (De Gea) done for the last nine years – he’s been phenomenal. He’s probably been the best player at United for that time period. He should get another opportunity.
“I’m a young lad. I’m working hard. I’m a fan of the club and I want to play for them. Hopefully I have a career at Man United like David de Gea has.”
The Englishman has two more years on his current deal at Old Trafford and has already attracted interest from London side, Chelsea.
