Brighton & Hove Albion host a hungry and an in-form Manchester United side tonight at the Amex. Brighton have had a bright restart since lockdown after beating Arsenal at home and drawing against Leicester away. They face a stern test as United have not lost in their last fourteen games.
It will be an interesting game with a huge amount of impactful players present on the pitch. Two of those impactful players for their sides are Neal Maupay and Marcus Rashford. While Neal Maupay is enjoying his first season in the British top tier, Marcus Rashford has found his feet under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is having his best season at Manchester United.
Brighton have found a future talent in Neal Maupay. The 23-year-old has scored nine while creating two more for his teammates this season. The player averages almost 3 shots per game while getting dispossessed just 1.6 times a game. He has been vital for Brighton to stay above the relegation zone and is important for them to stray further away from it. He has scored twice against Arsenal and also against tough opposition like Wolves and Tottenham this season.
22-year-old Marcus Rashford has taken the season by storm this season. He has 20 goal contributions this season in 24 appearances scoring 14 and assisting 6. He has been one of the most influential players this season and remains in contention for PFA Team of the Year. The player was in an excellent form before an injury hindered his season. He enjoys 3.3 shots per game and also provides 1.2 key passes per game.
His and Anthony Martial’s partnership has been key for Manchester United and where they stand at the moment. The signing of Bruno Fernandes in January will surely help him improve his goal tally and finding his form back after the restart. Since the restart, he has provided two assists but has failed to score. He will be looking to find back his feet as Manchester United look to find a spot in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season while also trying to win the Europa League and the FA Cup.
Conclusion
Marcus Rashford has a been a mile ahead of Neal Maupay this season. Though Maupay is enjoying a good season, he is nowhere near the stature of Rashford. The Englishman is five goals ahead and four assists ahead in six less appearances. He has been important for United’s top four chase and has the quality in and around him to make Champions League qualification a reality. Maupay has to stay a few more seasons in the top flight to be comparable to the quality of Marcus Rashford.
