Everton will host Leicester City in their next league game as they try to continue their quest for an European football next season.
The Merseyside club find themselves in 12th position, 14 points behind the away side who are third on the league table with seven matches to go.
Both teams have super talented players in the Premier League at their disposal who have proven to be key to their recent successes.
In this article, we pick the best combined XI from the Toffees team the Foxes team in a 4-2-3-1 formation:
Goalkeeper
Kasper Schmeichel is the obvious choice to be picked in post ahead of Everton’s Jordan Pickford. The Leicester shot-stopper has kept 11 clean sheets while making 85 saves for Brendan Rodgers side in the 2019/20 Premier League season. He is part of the reasons why his side still find themselves third on the table.
Defenders
Ricardo Pereira will definitely slot in at right-back ahead Seamus Coleman and Djibril Sidibe. Pereira has scored three goals and assisted twice in 28 games operating from the defensive position. He also has 10 clean sheets to his name.
Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu will get the nod at the heart of defence as they have done their club this season. The pair have been very impressive and have formed one of the best centre-back partnerships in the league this season. They have conceded together a total of 57 goals in 61 appearances and have kept 19 clean sheets amongst them.
Lucas Digne will be mine preferred choice at left-back despite not scoring goals as compared to Ben Chilwell. The pair have both been involved in six goals each, with Digne’s all coming as assists. His defensive abilities however makes him a better fit than the England international.
Midfielders
Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi will partner Andre Gomes of Everton as the two defensive and holding midfielders in the line-up. The Nigerian’s impact in the Leicester team is so crucial to be downplayed, while Gomes was in a good form prior to his long-term leg injury. The two could a magnificent duo should they happen to play together.
Ayoze Perez will be a good fit to slot in at the right flank of attack. His pace and tenacity as well as command on the field of play gives him the nod over Theo Walcott, who has not been too exceptional in the current campaign. The 26-year-old has been involved in 11 league goals for Rodgers’ side.
James Maddison will be preferred ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson in the No.10 role. The England international had a bright start to the season and was on course to lead Leicester to a title challenge. However, that has not been the case but his performances have not been too bad as well. He has proved to be an integral player for the team.
Brazil international Richarlison will be entrusted to the operate from the left-wing. He has formed a great relationship on the field with Dominic Calvert-Lewin which has propelled the Merseyside club to a fine form under Carlo Ancelotti. He has 10 goals and three assists from 29 games played in the top-flight.
Forward
Questions may be raised as to my Calvert-Lewin gets to start ahead of Jamie Vardy. The 33-year-old has been way too inconsistent for the 2015/16 Premier League champions, with his last goal coming in March. Calvert-Lewin on the other side is proving to be a great finisher in front of goal. He has been involved in 14 goals in 24 starts for Ancelotti’s side, with most coming since the appointment of the Italian.
He has the potential to go on and become a lethal and a top striker for both club and national team.
