Youngsters on track to feature for Manchester United in the FA Cup

Norwich City face an in-form Manchester United at Carrow Road for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Norwich beat Tottenham 3-2 on penalties in the previous round of the FA Cup while the Red Devils beat Derby County. Norwich will face a stern test as United are enjoying a good run after beating Sheffield 3-0 and drawing against Tottenham in their two fixtures since the restart while they have lost their two games against Southampton and Tottenham.

Against an arguably weaker Norwich side, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will look to play some youngsters and give them the first team experience they deserve.

Some of the young talents that could feature against Norwich are:

James Garner

The 19-year-old has been tipped to be one of the best academy graduates of Manchester United. With comparisons being made to Michael Carrick, the defensive midfielder definitely has a bright future ahead of him. His first appearance in English top flight this season was in fact in a 3-1 win against Norwich City replacing Andreas Pereira. He registered a 100% passing accuracy in the eight minutes he played.

Known for his passing abilities, Garner has also added a bit of goal scoring to his game this season, scoring nine goals for the club’s reserve side. Fans can look forward to him being named on the bench and coming on late in the second half.

Brandon Williams

Young left-back Brandon Williams has surprised each and every Premier League fan this season. With no backup left-backs, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer relied on the 19-year-old who has come through the ranks of United’s youth system. He has arguably fought well for the starting position and has already scored his first team goal this season. United can be reliant on him in cup games and also big games like the Manchester Derby. He is certainly in contention for starting the game and playing a full ninety.

The Welsh winger joined Manchester United from Swansea City prior to the start of the current season. He has featured in 29 games for the club in the Premier League since and has scored 3 while also assisting six. He is a promising young talent who has started a lot of games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He can also be expected to start against Norwich.

Diogo Dalot

A promising wing-back, Diogo Dalot is yet to show his talent in the English top tier. While he has started some of the cup games, he is yet to compete for a starting spot against Aaron Wan-Bissaka. His career is yet to take off at United with injuries hindering most of his time at Old Trafford. He can be expected to start or feature from the bench later on.

Much like Diogo Dalot, this Dutch winger is yet to show why he should be a regular at Manchester United. He has featured 35 times this season both for Manchester United U23’s scoring 16 and assisting 8. He has featured fifteen times for the senior team managing two assists. He can be expected to be on the bench while coming on late for the Red Devils.

Mason Greenwood

Arguably the most promising youngster on this list, Mason Greenwood has a lot to offer. His finishing and dribbling have earned him comparisons to the likes of icons like Robin Van Persie. In 42 appearances from the bench, the 18-year-old has scored twelve and assisted four. Much like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer himself, Mason is a super sub who can make an instant impact when the club is behind or level with the opposition. He can be considered arguably the best young talent in the Premier League.

The England U21 international can be expected to either start or feature from the bench as he may be believed to start the comparably tougher Premier League games.
