Things keep going from bad to worse for Arsenal both on and off the pitch with Gabriel Martinelli the latest player to suffer what could be a season-ending injury.
Gabriel Martinelli is said to have picked up knee injury after pulling out in a training session at the club’s training grounds, before confronting the medical department about the complaint.
A scan was then needed to check the extent of the injury at hand. The early signs indicate Martinelli has meniscus damage, and could be ruled out for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign.
Mikel Arteta said: “We had some really bad news again yesterday. In training, in the last action, he got hit by another player. He has damaged his knee and the doctor is assessing the extent of the injury but it is not looking good at all.
“We don’t know how long he will be out for but it is looking like months.”
The Brazilian’s case is the latest injury setback at the north London and huge blow for the Arsenal boss who have suffered such fate not too long ago. Granit Xhaka and Pablo Mari were lost to injuries in the Gunners’ first fixture of the Project Restart against Manchester City last week.
The weekend also saw the Spaniard lose first-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno also to an injury, after landing awkwardly in their clash against Brighton & Hove Albion
