Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that the club won’t lose sleep worrying about Chelsea’s potential interest in Ben Chilwell.
According to several reports, Chilwell is now the top transfer target for Chelsea after announcing Timo Werner’s arrival last week. Chelsea have signed Ziyech and Werner for next season and are in the market for Chilwell. Many Leicester players are linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium but manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he is relaxed as the transfer talks continue.
“The club have got good experience of situations where bigger the so-called bigger clubs come in,” Rodgers said, as per Sky Sports. “We’re always aware that while there are good players, that will always be of interest to other teams that have more money than us.
“We don’t lose sleep worrying about it. We’re here to develop players and improve the standard of the team. Of course, if we’re doing that then that will be taken note of by other clubs.”
This means that the Foxes are totally focused on completing the remainder of the Premier League fixtures successfully and making it to the Champions League next season. The Foxes are third in the league table, with 54 points from 30 games. However, teams are closing in on Rodgers’ side as the gap with fourth-placed Chelsea has been reduced to just three points.
Leicester face Brighton today at home and will be looking to grab all three points as they face Chelsea and Everton next. They are more likely to drop points in the next few fixtures and will fight for a win tonight.
