Though they still would have liked to keep Aaron Ramsey due to his quality and match-winning ability, which is unmatched in the current Arsenal squad bar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, if not for his high wage demands.
In the hindsight, Arsenal would have been better off having Aaron Ramsey at £300k per week than having Mesut Ozil at £350k per week. Primarily due to the fact that Aaron Ramsey would have been able to play as a No.8 in a 4-3-3, which many speculate is Mikel Arteta’s favoured formation. However, that wasn’t in Arsenal’s hand in the January transfer window of 2019. Hence, in the given circumstances, it wouldn’t be wrong to judge that they made the right decision by letting Aaron Ramsey go.
