Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and Joel Matip all found themselves on the scoresheet with youth players Ki-Jana Hoever and Leighton Clarkson also hitting the back of the net in the encounter for the Merseyside club.

Liverpool could be winning the Premier League title at Goodison Park against Everton should Manchester City fail to beat Arsenal in their opener on Wednesday.

The Reds boss should be delighted with what he saw from his side against the Championship side as they looked sharper in front of goal, and would hope they continue from where they left off prior to the suspension of the league following the coronavirus pandemic in England.

Mane put the Reds in front in the tenth minute after reaching out to tap home a rebound from Christian Walton from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s strike.

Goals from Keita and Minamino meant that Liverpool headed into the break with a three goal lead over Blackburn.

The German boss made seven changes after the recess with Neco Williams one of the players to have entered the frame.

The second 45 minutes saw Matip and Hoever score two goals within two minutes before Clarkson completed the riot.
