Vigil Van Dijk is set to sign a new five-year deal with Liverpool after they secure the Premier League title, amid transfer talks with French side Paris Saint-Germain.
The new five-year deal being offered to Van Dijk is worth £220,000-per week hence becoming the highest-paid player the club’s history.
Liverpool are set to resume the Premier League with a derby match against Everton on June 21. A win for Jurgen Klopp’s side could see the Reds win their 19th league title at the Goodison Park, should second place Manchester City lose to Arsenal at the Etihad on June 17.
The Netherlands captain is rumoured to be linked with a move to PSG but is focused on winning the Premier League title with Liverpool this season.
According to The Sun, the defender will pen down a five-year contract worth £57million after claiming the Premier League crown with Liverpool.
Ligue 1 side, PSG have reportedly attempted to lure the 28-year-old defender by offering him a huge 280,000-per-week, which sees him pocket £100,000 more than his current deal at Anfield.
However, the reigning PFA Players’ Player of the Year is said to be loyal to Klopp’s vision and ready to accept the £40,000-per-week pay rise being offered by the European Champions.
Since his move to Anfield for a then world record of £75million from Southampton in January 2018, Van Dijk has been a solid rock at the back, tightening Liverpool’s defence.
The Dutch centre-back was an integral member in the Red’s team winning last year’s Champions League final, after their defeat to Real Madrid in the 2017-18 campaign.
Sadio Mane is also reportedly being offered similar deal as Van Dijk’s which could see the duo surpass Mohammed Salah as the club’s top earner, who is believed to be on £200,000-per-week.
Both forwards, Mane and Salah have attracted interests from La Liga giants but Liverpool will hope to fend off the interests.
Liverpool are also believed to have found a breakthrough in extending Georgino Wijnaldum’s stay at Anfield as he enters the final year of his contract.
