Mikel Arteta has been keeping a close eye on Emile Smith-Rowe during his loan spell at Huddersfield Town, the player has claimed.
The Arsenal youngster has been involved in 10 games for the Championship side while scoring one goal for them.
Smith Rowe has been deployed in the No.10 role by manager Danny Cowley and the 19-year-old has been a big performer for the Terriers.
He looks to be enjoying a successful short stint at the club compared his last move outside the Emirates to RB Leipzig last season where he played only three times.
The player has said the Arsenal boss is closely watching his progress at Huddersfield as he prepares to extend his loan deal at the John Smith’s Stadium.
“We have kept in touch during lockdown and we have gone through some clips,” Smith Rowe told The National. “He has told me what I need to improve on. He said that it is probably the best thing for me to go out on loan to Huddersfield.
“You can see he has given the young players chances and that is something all young players should thrive off.
“When you see others playing, you want to push yourself and get in that position as well.
“I am obviously happy for all the other boys but I definitely want to go back and play as well. I think it will be great if more young players play.
“The main thing is to finish the season with Huddersfield as strong as I can and then go back to Arsenal in pre-season.”
