Watford captain Troy Deeney has revealed in an interview to CNN that Klopp’s Liverpool deserves to win the Premier League title but believes that the league’s integrity is ‘already gone’. Deeney has been vocal against Premier League’s resumption for a long time now.
Deeney decided to not join the training as the Premier League allowed clubs to restart their training in small groups earlier last week. The authorities will test every player and staff twice before restarting the tournament. However, Deeney isn’t convinced and due to safety concerns, he has decided to not join his teammates for the training. Earlier this week, Chelsea allowed Kante to not join the training due to the player’s personal fears.

“I believe that when it comes to the integrity of this season anyway, it’s already gone,” Deeney says.
“I feel sorry for Liverpool because no matter how it plays out, they deserve to win the league. They deserve to get the trophy, But no matter how it plays out, even if we play all the games, it’s still going to be the year spoiled by the pandemic. It’s not going to be that year that Liverpool won the league being the best team and, you know, it’s 30 years they haven’t won for.
“So I do feel sorry for Liverpool and their players and Jordan [Henderson], but in terms of integrity, there’s no way you could say that this is viable competition,” added Deeney, referring to the Liverpool captain.
“It’s like running a marathon, 20 odd miles, stopping for two months and then sprinting the last bit and going: ‘Ah, that was a good time that.'”
The Hornets are the only team in the Premier League this season who have managed to beat Liverpool. Deeney captained his side in a 3-0 victory at Vicarage Road earlier this season. However, despite the loss, Klopp’s Liverpool boast of a 25 point lead to the top and need just two wins to win the league for the first time in 30 years.
