Manchester United fullback Luke Shaw has opened up about how Solskjaer helped him restart his career and his influence on his career. Luke Shaw has struggled with injuries since joining United in 2014. Shaw has thanked the manager for his role in relaunching the player’s career.
Shaw opened up on Solskjaer’s influence in his latest weekly diary for the Manchester United website. When asked by a fan how important Solskjaer has been for the defender’s career, Shaw said:
“A massive one. He’s helped me a lot on the pitch, but more so he’s been one of the biggest influences off the pitch too, with the way he handles players.
“He knows what players need. I had a difficult couple of years before he came in; I think maybe he realised that and knew what I needed. He’s really helped me off the pitch. He obviously believes in me, he tells me that. That’s the confidence you need as a player: to have the manager believe in you.”
Shaw has appeared 49 times under the Norwegian. Solskjaer has played him in many positions such as left-back, centre-back and left-wing back. Shaw also revealed that they have a good personal relationship and it’s worth it.
“We also get on really well, and that’s a key thing: your relationship off the pitch,” he added.
“I know he’s the manager, and we all have massive respect for him, but it’s also important to have a nice relationship off the pitch too sometimes when things aren’t too serious.”
It can be concluded that Ole has been amazing at man-management since joining the club as interim manager. He gave opportunities to the youngsters from the academy as well.
This has helped many players. The emergence of Brandon Williams has spurred Shaw on. United are finally seeing the best of Shaw. Shaw has been phenomenal this season and if he remains fit next season, there’s a good chance of him getting a chance at the Euros next year.
