So far this season, he has been plagued with some injuries which has limited his number of appearances but that hasn’t stopped him from scoring four goals and further notching up six assists for River Plate.

Standing at 5ft 6in tall, he’s low centre of gravity makes him difficult to dispossess while with the ball and he’s also quick, skilful, hard-working and has an eye for pass.

He’s also very versatile as he can operate on either flank and as primarily an attacking midfielder.

‘Ole’ reported back in November 2019 that Manchester City have allegedly opened talks to sign the Uruguayan midfielder, who has a €22million (£19million) release clause in his deal but unfortunately, a move didn’t materialise due to some complications while sorting the deal.

According to another recent report from the same news outlet, Everton are now really keen on signing the 22-year-old, who is also on Borussia Dortmund’s radar. And the Toffees are said to be willing to pay the release clause to bring in Nicolas de la Cruz.

If Everton can fight off all contenders and convince De La Cruz to join them this summer, they may have just land themselves a potential world class player whose abilities are unquestionable.
