Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, popularly known as Jorginho is one of the midfield players whose future at Chelsea look shaky going into the summer.

Having represented Napoli from 2014 to 2018, Chelsea took up the opportunity to snap up the Brazil-born Italian in July 2018 for a fee around £50 million.

Maurizio Sarri who was then the manager of the Blues asked for the signing of the player having worked with him in Napoli.

He was integral under the Italian manager for the 2018/19 season where he played 51 games across all competitions helping Chelsea to a top four finish while winning the Europa League.

His role under manager Frank Lampard has not changed and has even been awarded as the vice-captain of the club – but the emergence of Billy Gilmour has raised concerns over his future.

Jorginho had been very important to the Chelsea set up playing as the deep-lying playmaker. Jorginho is known for his composure on the ball and his eye for good passes from the centre of the field.

He possesses a good technique for passing, football intelligence and vision that is almost envied by many around him. Jorginho also has a good work rate which has always covered up for his poor physicality in the game.

Once a villain last season, the player has convinced many with his performances this season and looks all clear to have Lampard’s backing too.

However, another section of the fans would want to see more of the teenager who only broke into the team this season, leaving the former Chelsea captain in a dilemma.

Gilmour

Whatever happens, Lampard would have a big call to make but then there is a need to keep Jorginho at the club for one more time to build up the confidence of the young wizkid, Billy Gilmour.

The 28-year-old is also yet to rule out any return to Serie A as there have reported interest from Juventus.
