Bruno Fernandes move to Old Trafford is currently under investigation by the World football’s governing body after complaint from Serie A side Sampdoria.
The 25-year-old was sold by Sampdoria to Sporting Lisbon before he signed for Manchester United for £47m in January.
Sampdoria, the Italian side are arguing they deserve to be paid an amount of £4m as a result of a 10% sell-on clause.
However, Sporting haven’t fulfilled their obligation by paying the fee to Sampdoria, leading to the Serie A side filing a complaint to FIFA.
A FIFA spokesperson has said the investigation is between Sporting and Sampdoria rather than United.
He said, “We can confirm that on April 3, 2020 the Italian club, UC Sampdoria, lodged a claim with FIFA against the Portuguese club, Sporting Clube de Portugal, related to financial obligations set out in the contract corresponding to the transfer of the Portuguese player, Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes.
“The matter is currently being investigated and consequently we cannot provide further comment.”
Fernandes was with Sampodria for a year and played in 35 games contributing to five goals, he later moved on to join Sporting enjoying two-and-a-half years.
Bruno later signed for the Red Devils for £47m in January and has been a brilliant signing for the club.
His manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the Portugal international was the x-factor United was looking for while other teammates has heaped praises on him.
Fred has also enjoyed playing with him in the midfield and has expressed the influence Bruno has brought on the squad.
During an interview with Brazilian outlet Trivela, he said, “We were living in a very good phase, we were in a growing phase.
“We were doing very well in the Premier League, very well in the Europa League. We would have a chance to be champions before the stop.
“Our group got together a lot at the end, we started helping each other, with a different view of the game, and we grew up on the pitch. We started to get better together, and Bruno Fernandes’ arrival was important for us, giving a calm change to our midfield.”
