Premier league giant Manchester City are on the chase for Barcelona’s right back Nelson Semedo signature.

According to @Sport via Sport_Witness, it was revealed that Manchester City are ready to either pay a fee or include Joao Cancelo in a deal that will help Semedo’s move to Manchester City.

Cancelo and Semedo have obviously failed to stamp their ground in their respective clubs since they arrived. Both players have had one or two problems which hasn’t allow them to actualise the potential which attracted their respective clubs.

Cancelo was signed from Juventus and was seen as a perfect right back, who is capable of slotting into Manchester City’s boss (Guardiola’s) plan. He’s been regarded as a promising player in the media and mainly known for his speed, energy and offensive capabilities, as well as his technical skills, creativity and crossing ability. He is capable of playing as a full-back or winger on either flank, although he usually plays on the right.

He joined Premier League champions Manchester City in a six-year deal worth £27.4m plus Danilo being sent to Juventus in part-exchange, equaling to £60 million, making him the most expensive right back ever.

But unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to justify the hype surrounding his ability since he arrived at the Etihad Stadium. Which has led to a serious doubt to his future at the club.

While Nelson Semedo, whom was thought to have been the perfect replacement for Barcelona’s former right back Daniel Alves, hasn’t also proved his competence to fill the void left by the Brazilian.

Semedo is mainly known for his speed, ball control, dribbling and passing. Which seems to be suited to the qualities Barcelona fans would love to see in their right back.

Despite winning Breakthrough Player of the Year award from the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional, a season before signing for Barcelona, he hasn’t been able to hit the ground running with the Blaugrana team.

Barcelona are said to be aware of Manchester City’s interest, and are open to the idea of a swap, provided they receive money in return.

Hopefully in the summer, both clubs would be able to trash out a deal to get the best out of the situation. Obviously a swap deal looks more likely as that would save Barcelona’s search for a replacement.
