Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez was expected to have an impact at the Theatre of Dreams, that Bruno Fernandes has had since his arrival in the winter. The former Arsenal man was purchased for rather a bargain but with big pay cheque that all went in drain.

Now that he has been a failure, he wishes to have joined Manchester City where he may have succeeded.

Alexis Sanchez signed for United in 2018 January in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitariyan but his failure at Old Trafford led to his exit to Inter Milan where also he did not prosper. Were United not paying him such a huge sum, City would have got him. Paul Ince wishes that he had joined City.

“Going to United was a mistake,” Ince told Paddy Power.

“I bet Alexis wishes he’d gone to City, like he was supposed to.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is said to have a good relationship with Alexis Sanchez since their time together at Barcelona

“United was never, ever the right move for him; the team wasn’t settled and their style of play wasn’t conducive to him.

“And he was clearly desperate to make an impact. Look at the way Bruno Fernandes has hit the ground running at Old Trafford, that’s what Sanchez wanted, and was expected to do.

“But he didn’t get a lot of game time, he was used out of position, so when he did play he started to come deeper and deeper to get on the ball, to try and influence the game, and that wasn’t his game.”

The Chilean international has declined exponentially and to get into an elite club will be difficult for him. Though with arrival of Bruno Fernandes, who could play Mesut Ozil-esque role to Alexis Sanchez, there might still be a chance we could see Alexis at Old Trafford – the way we saw him at the Emirates.
