Wayne Rooney will draw the blood on football pitch once again with 11 more Manchester United players. Yes, 11 more because the Champion is set to play against his homegrown club for Derby County.

The manager cum player of Derby County will step in against his old club in the fifth-round tie of FA Cup for the same team that stunned Manchester United last season. And with Rooney at the helm, one more setback is surely up on the cards.

The 34-year-old joined the Championship club in January from DC united. To give a glittery end to his everlasting career, Rooney would want to win against his own club.

The Norwegian manager is wholly aware of the threat that Rooney possesses and was of full praises in the pre-match interview.

“He’s a threat in and around the box, set plays. He wants to prove there’s still fight in the old dog,” Solskjaer said at his pre-match press conference.

“We’ve got to be on our toes. Don’t give him any space, in and around the box or in midfield. When he plays midfield you can see he’s got Scholesy-like passing range.”

We all know the finishing skills that this Englishman possesses and to keep him at bay will be tough for the inexperienced defence of United. The sole fact that Rooney plays will intimidate Ole to deploy his A team.

While talking about Rooney, Solksjaer added:

“He’s been a fantastic player for Manchester United,” Solskjaer added. “He played here for so long, he’s the club’s top scorer, he’s won so many trophies.”

“I don’t think the fans underrate him. I think everyone really, really appreciates what he did for us. He’s still very welcome, he’s still around the place, he comes to Old Trafford.”

“He’ll get a good reception from our away fans in that game, definitely. He gave absolutely everything for this club and we all appreciate that.”

The fans of travelling squad will for the first time want their favourite kid to stay quiet. Or maybe not. They would want him for him to score in a losing cause. Because that’s what it will be a win-win for them as well as millions other following Red Devils.
