Orkun Kökcü is a Dutch central midfielder playing his trade for Feyenoord in Eredivisie (Netherlands Football League). He’s been scouted by 18 months and have previously tried to complete a transfer but were priced out.

Orkun is young dominating central midfielder who can prove to be the ball carrier Arsenal have been looking for since losing Santi Cazorla. Except for Granit Xhaka, Arsenal lack strength in their midfield, hence someone like Orkun Kokcu would help with his physicality.

He has already made 24 appearances this season with over 1700 minutes under his belt including Europa League minutes. He has scored two goals and provided four assists this season, two of which came in the Europa League where he has 400 minutes under his belt.

Talking about his passing game, Kokcu is making 1.4 key passes every match with a pass success rate of 84.5%. He is also competing 2.2 successful long balls each match. To give you a perspective, Tanguy Ndombele in last season at Lyon was making 1.4 key passes and 1.6 long balls.

While his pass success rate was an impressive 89.1%. Though Orkun being in his first season has mostly match highly rated Frenchman’s stats, which is impressive for a 19-year-old.

Though his defensive game has been lacking big time, Orkun is making 1.1 tackles and 0.2 interceptions every match while Ndombele was making 2.4 tackles and 1.5 interceptions every match. His tackling too isn’t regarded as one of the accomplished parts of his game.

His offensive is impressive though, he is completing 1 dribble per match while also taking 1.8 shots per match. Ndombele at Lyon was completing 1.9 dribbles and taking 0.9 shots per match. The Tottenham midfielder was providing 0.27 G/A per match while Orkun is providing 0.31 G/A per match.

Orkun has surprisingly performed even better in the Europa League with the Dutch completing 83.7% of his passes, providing 2.2 key passes, 2.2 long balls and 2.2 crosses while also averaging 0.45 G/A per 90.

Chances to join: Arsenal’s interest looks genuine and it looks likely that the youngster will be joining the Gunners.

Arsenal are thought to moving quickly for the with some reports even suggesting that they have already made initial contact. Arsenal have performed well in the last couple of seasons with young signings in Guendouzi and Martinelli, and this one looks like a deal with a similar fate.
