After eight-and-a-half-years at Manchester United, Ashley Young leaves England to join Seria A giants Inter Milan on a sixth month initial deal.

Inter have purchased Ashley Young for £1.3m (€1.5m) fee plus bonuses on a six month deal with an option to extend it by a year. The deal was agreed on Thursday after both the clubs sealed mutual consent.

He is the third United member to join Antonio Conte’s side after Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in June. The full-back had undergone a medical test on Friday and is all set to play for Italian club.

Young posted on his social media: “To Man Utd, you gave me the chance to play with legends, to win trophies, to work under the greatest manager in history and to be your captain.

“Thank you for letting me be part of your story for eight-and-a-half years.”

“To the United fans, every time I walked on the pitch wearing your shirt I gave you my all. Thank you for your support during the highs and the lows. I leave as one of you, see you again in an away end soon.”

Young left United on the grounds of irregular game time which also made him stay away from a contract extension at United. He, however, featured for 18 games this season and started 10 of those.

With a total of 261 caps for United, Young surely went down as a hero; if not a legend.

“Thank you for everything at Manchester United, Ashley. Wishing you the very best of luck,” United said.

The exit of Young has given Brandom Williams a reason to seal his spot as a full-back and has also given Harry Maguire an official go to lead the club with all his heart.
