Reports in Spain claim that Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo has attracted interest from various Premier League clubs with Everton, Manchester United and Southampton all in the race for the youngster’s signature.
Todibo has caught the eye of many European clubs since his move to Barcelona. However, the defender has only managed to make very few appearances since his arrival in the summer.
Reports also claim that Barca are willing to listen to offers for the 19-year old. However, Barcelona will not be willing to sell the defender without a clause. The Catalan giants would want to agree on a clause that would allow them to potentially re-sign the teenager in the coming years.
Manchester United are not willing to insert a clause in Todibo’s contract. This means that the Red Devils’ chances of signing the Frenchman are all but over with Barcelona not wanting to cut all ties with the former Toulouse defender.
New Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti would want to make a defender his priority in the January transfer window. The Toffees lack players and quality in the defense, and with reports emerging of Mason Holgate leaving Goodison Park, Ancelotti would want to sign a centre-back all the more sooner.
Everton could be the ideal destination for Todibo. He will surely get some minutes under his belt with Everton lacking options. Also, developing under Ancelotti in arguably the best league in the world is only going to help Todibo.
Everton might not be keen on agreeing to a buy-back clause for Todibo, however, the Toffees had agreed to a similar deal for Gerard Deulofeu previously, meaning that the clause might not put them off again.
