Underfire Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will be back in action tonight as the Blues kickoff their Carabao Cup campaign as League Two side Grimsby Town will visit Stamford Bridge, just three days after Chelsea’s much anticipated home defeat to Liverpool.
Lampard is still searching for his first home win as Chelsea’s head coach, after failing on the first four attempts at the Bridge.
And ahead of the fixture, they have some news to build on, as Frank Lampard’ s much preferred Mason Mount has made the list for prestigious 2019 Golden Boy award.
A forty-men list was announced by Italian newspaper Tutto Sport alongside last year winner Matthijs De Ligt in the feature alongside Watford’s Tom Dele-Bashiru, a recent signing from Manchester City.
The award which was started in 2003 is to be presented to players under the age of twenty-one, and has been previously won by only two of English representatives in Wayne Rooney and Raheem Sterling. The best of young prospects is been voted by top journalists across Europe.
Arsenal’s duo, Reiss Nelson and Matteo Guendouzi are also among the list representing Premier League alongside Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Everton’s Moise Kean.
Though, Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is considered favorite by a mile to win the award this year after impressive outings for the men in yellow since his move to Germany.
