Manager: Jurgen Klopp
Star Player: Mohammed Salah
Fresh from their European glory, the best campaign they have had in recent years, Liverpool would definitely look at mapping out a strategy to overthrow Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The Reds fought a good fight throughout the whole of the 2018/2019 second only to find themselves a point behind the Citizens.
A new season is upon and you feel Klopp & his men would like to be crowned champions domestically too – considering the fact that they last won the English top flight in 1989/90 season and with the squad they have right now THIS IS THEIR BEST CHANCE.
So, How does Klopp put the domestic woes of last season behind him and move on?
How do the Reds line up in their quest to conquer the Premier League?
It would be no surprise to see Alisson Becker between the woodworks commanding his back line. The keeper after his move from AS Roma has really been a hard crack for many attackers in the Premier League. He went on to with the Golden Gloves last season to mark his arrival in England.
Alex McCarthy still remains a target for Liverpool with the player keen to join from Southampton as Mignolet nears the exit.
There is no questioning when it comes to the position of a right back. Trent Alexander-Arnold is the obvious choice with the great numbers he clocked last season. Going into the new season, Jurgen will hope TAA is well equipped and sharpened to continue from where he let off last season which saw him earn the praises of many football pundits.
At the left back position, there is another tireless worker in the person of Andrew Robertson. Just like Alexander-Arnold, Robertson also proved vital throughout the impressive season the Reds had in 2018/19. He will look to add more numbers with his work rate being as great as always.
At centre back, I expect Joe Gomez to be fully fit to reclaim the spot he made his own during the early part of the 2018/19 campaign. Injuries proved crucial to his season but he would like to move on from that to establish himself as one of the finest and youngest centre backs. Joel Matip could still be a plan ‘B’ in case Klopp decides to omit Gomez.
Arguably one of the best centre backs in the game right now if the not the best is Virgil Van Dijk. His performances last season has earned him the opportunity to be considered for the Balon D’Or. A beast on his own, VVD was able to command the Liverpool defence with ease as they become one of the best in the league.
The intelligent reading of the game by Jordan Henderson so far has been enough to convince Jurgen Klopp that the Reds’ captain is an ideal person needed in his team. His calmness on the ball is a good part of his game. Though not one of the physically built players, he is able to discharge his duty as a defensive midfielder very well. Fabinho could has prove to be a very good candidate for that position.
Georginio Wijnaldum is undoubtedly one of the brightest midfielders at Liverpool at the moment. He was the hero in Liverpool’s elimination of Barcelona at the Camp Nou and it isn’t much surprise that he comes into the team with his confidence very high. He would look at improving on his performances last season and monopolizing his position.
The last addition of a middle three should definitely be Naby Keita. So much was expected of him last season but things did not work out until the later part of the season where he scored some crucial goals which kept Liverpool challenging for the Premier League title. Klopp would hope he comes into the team next season the same way he ended it and even better.
You definitely cannot write off the trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and the never under pressure Mohammed Salah. The Egyptian, together with Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were crowned Golden boot winners and the Liverpool forwards will like to stay up there to push Liverpool to achieving their Nineteenth league title.
Firmino on the other hand, though mostly played as a centre forward drops deep to work for the two mentioned above and going into a new season, he would like to add goals to his game.
“With Liverpool on the market in an attempt to bolster their squad it is fair enough to say they could really go on to lift the Premier League trophy.”
Do you see Liverpool missing out on the Premier League title once again?
I dont see them missing out, they have no other choice than to win the league.. I think this is the right time for them to achieve something domestically.if they miss out this coming season it gonna be a big blow for Klopp and his boys.
Good job bro….I’m nt a football fun tho
I believe they have a higher chance of being crown the EPL champions as Pep and his boys will have more concentration on an European trophy next season. Despite their high chances its never going to be easy for them.
